When Charley Crockett sang “And wish you could die boy to get that woman off your mind,” I felt that.
I heard Charley’s latest release and thought to myself that boy did it again! Charley Crockett’s cover of the Jerry Reed penned, “I Feel For You.” Is another classic that in his Charley way, he has given a new breath of fresh air.
I taught myself how to play
Charley Crockett
The Americana and Blues singer, Charley Crockett was born just a poor kid in San Benito, Texas. He grew up on the streets of Houston, Dallas, and New Orleans. He has no formal training in music. He says, “I taught myself how to play and started to write songs immediately.” In the beginning, Crockett wasn’t even sure what key he was playing in, he just knew he could play. There was a time when he had to play. He played just to survive.
I have seen Charley Crockett play live and it was one of the best shows I have seen in my lifetime. His booming voice and the magic that he makes with his guitar, or his banjo would make any music scholar cringe.
After a successful run with his last album, “Music City USA,” Charley has announced his next release, an album of covers by some of the biggest names in Country Music. Guys like Willie Nelson, and George Jones were household names when I was growing up. Crockett will bring new light to those same old songs, on his next project, “Jukebox Charley.”
“I Feel For You,” is the first single released off of this new project. I cannot wait to hear more.
Jukebox Charley is now available for pre order on vinyl or CD.
“Yes I know what your goin’ through and I feel for you.”
Pancho.
